Youth Program

Youth Program

Our Youth Jiu Jitsu class provides a fun, structured, and safe environment where children build confidence, discipline, and practical self-defense skills. Students learn age-appropriate close proximity encounters, escapes, positional control, and teamwork while improving coordination, balance, and respect for others. Our youth class maintains a no-hitting, no-kicking atmosphere. Every class emphasizes character development, perseverance, and learning through positive encouragement.

1. What is a Gi?

A Jiu Jitsu Gi is the traditional uniform worn. It consists of a durable jacket, reinforced pants, and a colored belt that represents a student’s rank. The gi is designed to withstand gripping, pulling, and grappling while allowing students to practice realistic self-defense and technical control.

2. What is NoGi?

NoGi in Jiu Jitsu is a style of grappling practiced without the traditional gi. Instead, students wear a fitted rash guard (top) and athletic shorts, creating a faster-paced training environment that emphasizes movement, body control, and technique rather than clothing grips.

3. Is there a schedule for the Youth Class?

Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-5:15pm: Gi (the traditional kimono (durable jacket + reinforced pants with belt)). Friday 4:30pm-5:15pm: NoGi (form-fitting athletic shirt and shorts)

4. What Should I Wear?

If you are attending our Monday-Thursday Youth Class, please wear a t-shirt and shorts under your Gi. Friday you may wear a form-fitting athletic shirt and shorts. Long hair must be pulled back and tied, no body/hair/face jewelry allowed, and no shoes/socks allowed on mats.

5. What if this is my first class?

You may come in a t-shirt and shorts and we will provide a clean gi if it's a Gi class (Monday-Thursday).

6. Anything else I should bring?

We encourage you to bring a full water bottle as there will be multiple quick breaks for students to hydrate.
