Gi Program

Gi Program

Our Gi Jiu Jitsu class teaches traditional grappling and self-defense in the kimono (gi: durable jacket + reinforced pants with belt), emphasizing technique, leverage, and control over strength. Students learn grips, takedowns, escapes, guard passing, positional control, and submissions through structured instruction and safe live training. Classes build confidence, discipline, problem-solving skills, and respect while providing a challenging workout for all experience levels.

1. What is a Gi?

A Jiu Jitsu Gi is the traditional uniform worn. It consists of a durable jacket, reinforced pants, and a colored belt that represents a student’s rank. The gi is designed to withstand gripping, pulling, and grappling while allowing students to practice realistic self-defense and technical control.

2. Is there a schedule for the Gi Class?

Tuesday / Thursday 6:15pm-7:15pm

3. What Should I Wear?

Please wear a t-shirt and shorts under your Gi. Long hair must be pulled back and tied, no body/hair/face jewelry allowed, and no shoes/socks allowed on mats.

4. What if this is my first class?

You may come in a t-shirt and shorts and we will provide a clean gi for use.

5. Anything else I should bring?

We encourage you to bring a full water bottle as there will be multiple quick breaks to hydrate.
